Project Architect

Katie brings more than fifteen years of professional architecture, interior design, graphics, and marketing experience to BRIX Design Group. As Project Architect, Katie is responsible for leveraging her skillset and deep understanding of building codes and accessibility standards to support clients in commercial, institutional, and residential spaces. She enjoys simplifying complex scenarios through creative problem-solving while taking a holistic approach toward understanding a client’s needs and ideals and matching them with well-rounded and thoughtful design solutions.

Throughout her career, Katie’s interests in renovations and interiors have tailored well to her background in niche higher education and commercial retail projects. Her vast experience in supporting clients from early idea stages through post-occupancy gives her a deep understanding of the multifaceted needs of a project from large-scale design concepts down to the finest details.

Katie is a Registered Architect in the State of Pennsylvania and holds Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Architecture, and a minor in Architectural History from Penn State, which she acquired after attending the Savannah College of Art and Design. Katie spent time studying abroad in Rome through the Sede di Roma program and was granted a graduate teaching assistantship in conjunction with the B.Arch/M.Arch Integrated Degree Program, and graduated salutatorian of her undergraduate architecture class. During her time at Penn State, she was honored with several awards, including the Architectural Research Centers Consortium King Student Medal for Excellence in Design Research for her Master’s thesis, the American Institute of Architects Certificate of Merit for Excellence in the Study of Architecture, and the Jamil E. Faridy Scholarship in Architecture. In 2015, Katie returned to her Alma Mater as an adjunct faculty member for the Department of Architecture, instructing an online introductory history and theory course for the University Park and World Campuses.

When she is not in the office, Katie is very active in her church and enjoys home renovations, cooking, writing, photography, and spending time traipsing through the woods with her daughter and rescue pup Bruce.
